The Minnicks to 29 Palms
My name is Clint Minnick and I am a graduate of Heartland Baptist Bible College, and my wife Maureen, is a graduate of West Coast Baptist College. We have had the opportunity to work in a number of youth groups and churches over the last ten years or so and have seen many saved as well as tremendous spiritual growth. we knew the Lord was preparing us for something else. In January, He revealed to both of us the call to either start a church in the Inland Empire of California, or take over a small and struggling work in that area. Which brings me to the purpose of this letter. I am writing you to present the opportunity for your church to be a part of a ministry that could impact the world.
I would like to make you aware of the great need that encompasses Twentynine Palms CA. This city, Is truly a military city with really not a lot much more than Marines and their families.
Twentynine Palms is home to the Marine Corp Air Ground Combat Center. This location will be the temporary home for most Marines at least twice in their four years of service. Every week, many Marines will wait at the bus stop on Sunday morning just hoping that someone will pick them up for church. Ninety-five percent of the population is Marines and their families along with other retired Marines and civilian contractors(Prior service Marines.) The "local" community is sadly engrossed in drugs, gambling, and immorality. Their need for a Savior is so evident! Just touring the city you could see on the faces of the residents how desperately they needed Christ, and our hearts were broken.
You may ask, what does this have to do with me? We went to Twenty-nine Palms to start and launch the church, but am seeking support from other churches. Monthly support would be great if possible it would be a tremendous help and blessing to our family to help with life necessities. My wife and I have four children, Ashlynn (8), Preston (7), Brennli (5), and Laicey (almost 4) and one on the way. I would ask that you be in prayer for this work, as well as pray about having a part financially while we try to minister and serve this area with it's constant revolving door.
In the 3 years we have been here, we have seen several souls accept Christ as their personal Savior, and follow the Lord in baptism, and many families join the church, and at times we have had an incredible average of 68! Unfortunately, the next month is 45, due to the constant movement of the military. Living in a city that is in constant rotation has not been without its frustrations, but it is brings many joys. If we had everyone that has come and been part of our church we would be running 120 to 150. We have a phrase we use around here "We get them growing the Marine Corps send them going!" This month we have averaged forty and we foresee averaging fifty very soon! Many church members have become faithful to church and to serving the Lord as well. The Lord has blessed and allowed us access to the base to visit the Marines that come to our church and He has given us the opportunity to invite their peers, as well as give them a ride to church. We are encouraged and excited to see the Lord work is such miraculous ways! Our sending Pastor calls us the church of the perpetual church plant! Please pray about what part you and your church may have in supporting this ministry to the Marines and their families!
Serving those who serve,
Pastor Clint Minnick
